(This is Mostly Aimed at Twitch, but if you know how. feel free)
I Reinstalled XP after FoT2. (it was playing up something bad.) and i just got CoD4 back from my friend so i can install it again, All went well. but now my Profiles (namely, my LV55 account.) dont work. It remembers the Name, the Custom Slots, etc. but not the Level, achievements, Guns or anything.
Suggestions on how to Re-vert? and CoD 4 was on a Sep. Partition to windows, if that helps. (somehow.)

its cuz the CD key you are using is different

Maybe, Same HDD Partition, but it was Named Different after the format.

Yea It'll do that. Did it a while back, saved everything properly and put it in the right place, it just wipes your stats - pain in the A$$....enjoy your unlocking this weekend

due to having to constantly format and keeping forgetting to backup my profile, this is my 6th attempt at getting to lvl 55

Thats a horrible idea it would be a huge pain in the ass you wouldn't be able to change any in game settings. Steam would never work again a lot of games probably wont even start as they wont be able to wright a configuration file

Sounds like the game is storing profile information in the registry or another system area that you aren't saving when you format.

most games are getting better and save it in your local settings folder. otherwise they are being naughty and saving in their own directory (which is bad bad *slap* naughty game. and also in a properly set up windows xp installation, the game wouldnt have write access to its own directory - therefore it would be impossible). also as miles pointed out, the registry is a great place to hide things.

there is the actual Profile, and i'm back to Level 55 again anyway, so it doesnt really matter.. well, apart from that computer dying and now using it on the backup..
