Hi all,
I am thinking of ordering a Wii modchip from ozmodchips.com
these are completely solderless for installation, and can be installed in 10 minutes using nothing but a screwdriver. (doesnt void your Wii's warranty)
http://www.ozmodchips.com/solderless-d2pro-9-on-a-clip-free- triwing-p-162.html
The price per chip is reduced for bulk orders, so yeah
im interested in buying one, so i can check out the homebrew scene. i rekon it would be awesome playing Shareware doom, and perhaps even trying out a GNU/opensource linux distro on my Wii
Let me know if you are interested in purchasing one.
Remember, piracy is illegal... im sure the admins would be happy to delete any subsequent posts from this thread that are related to piracy/warez.

Well after the poor display and lousy performance of first generation devices the second generation is looking better with better performance and a native resolution of 1024x600 which is a farcry from the 800x640 the first generation drvices had.
The samsung Q2 is also got great features that are really required in a UMPC such as HSDPA, WiBRO and GPS
it also runs Vista Read on

Researchers have effectively delayed light's travel for the purpose of chips
IBM has announced that its researchers have built a device capable of delaying the flow of light on a silicon chip, which could lead the further development of using light instead of electricity to transfer data. Researchers have known that the use of optical instead of electrical signals for transferring data within a computer chip might result in significant performance enhancements since light signals can carry more information faster. The engineering challenge is buffering data on the chip, which is difficult given light’s speed. Thus, a means of using light effectively is to delay its travel.
Long delays can be achieved by passing light through optical fibers. IBM scientists were able to delay light by passing it through a new form of silicon-based optical delay line built of up to 100 cascaded "micro-ring resonators," built using current silicon complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) fabrication tools. When the optical waveguide is curved to form a ring, light is forced to circle multiple times, delaying its travel. The optical buffer device based on this simple concept can briefly store 10 bits of optical information within an area of 0.03 square millimeters. This advancement could potentially lead to integrating hundreds of these devices on one computer chip, an important step towards on-chip optical communications.
"Today's more powerful microprocessors are capable of performing much more work if we can only find a way to increase the flow of information within a computer," said Dr. T.C. Chen, vice president of Science and Technology for IBM Research. "As more and more data is capable of being processed on a chip, we believe optical communications is the way to eliminate these bottlenecks. As a result, the focus in high-performance computing is shifting from improvements in computation to those in communication within the system."
The report on this work, "Ultra-compact optical buffers on a silicon chip," is published in the premiere issue of the journal Nature Photonics. This work was partially supported by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) through the Defense Sciences Office program "Slowing, Storing and Processing Light."

Our Next email comes from Norman from Downer Downs and reads: Dear Driftwood, I think your are the koolest person on the planet. Is it for this reason your such a hit with the ladies? and if so could you please give me some advise so I can try and be as kool as you?
- Both great questions Norm, I'm glad you asked. To the first, to be honest it's really hard to say... The doctors actually pronounced me as being kool on arrival, so I can't really remember being anything less then godlike, but many have their own assumptions as to why I'm so kool.. Some say it's charisma.. others say rugged good looks.. But to be honest thats all rubbish. The single most important thing you can do to be as kool as me, is to go to Frag-O-Thong 10. If you haven't already, sign up at fragfest.com.au and I guarantee you'll be a subzero superfonzie just like me.
- Best of luck Norman!!

I Won one of these last LAN. I must say that this device is excellent. I recently moved into my new house back at castle hill as some of you know. I have an upstairs study and i have a media center and a computer downstairs that needed to be networked. i missed the chance to have cables run thru the wall when the house was being build and i hate running cables along walls and the floor. Luckily i won the device at the last lan. its so simple yet so powerful. all i had to do was plug both ends into the power and connect network cables and i now have both the devices downstairs networked. no configuration no mucking around just good old plug n play. I can connect up to 4 devices with this and the devices are even prioritised. for example, im watching a movie on my media center and someone starts copying a file off my computer at the same time. the in-power network device give priority to the device watching the move rather than the device that wants to copy a file.
anyway just thought i would give the awesome little device a wrap.
